1. Enter Goliath – “Giant Despair” (v.4-11)

2. Enter David – “Faithful Enters The Scene” (v.12-24)

And David said to the men who stood by him, “What shall be done for the man who kills this Philistine and takes away the reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?” (1 Samuel 17:26)

3. Entering the Conflict – “Great-heart Slays Giant Despair” (v.28-54)

And David said, “The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” […] (1 Samuel 17:37, ESV)

The Theology of David
a) There are not many gods but One, living God.
b) Because he is God, He is omnipotent (v.45, “LORD of hosts”).
c) Faithful, covenant-keeping God (v.46, “LORD”).
d) Gives grace (v.46, “[…] the LORD will”).
e) Sovereign over all (v.47).
